WHO ARE THE MINDFUL TRAVEL CO?

The Mindful Travel Co. was founded by Emma and Laura – Brits, best friends, travel experts and World travellers!

After both beginning their journeys on an Australian Working Holiday Visa, our co-owners have been lucky enough to work their way around Australia and New Zealand and to call both of these amazing countries home.

As well as a love for travelling, they share a passion for the environment, and sought a way to see the World whilst also protecting it.

They began researching the carbon footprint of the tourism industry and came up with a solution to minimise your carbon footprint whilst also following your travel dreams.

One night in Queenstown, over a bottle of wine and a brainstorming session, The Mindful Travel Co. was born!

Since launching in March 2018, Laura and Emma have spent their time between Europe, Australia and New Zealand, helping others to plan their travel dreams whilst fulfilling some of their own.

The girls have also spent a lot of time raising money and awareness for their tree -planting partner ‘One Tree Planted’ as well as organising their first ever Mindful Travel Co. Australia Reforestation project (Coming in 2021! Contact us for details)

MEET THE TEAM

Emma

Meet our co-owner Emma, from Kent, England. Emma headed straight from University to Australia in 2013, desperately seeking some sun. 7 years later, she’s is still here, living on the Gold Coast.

She loves to explore Australia’s many National Parks and meet the local wildlife! Since then she has spent time in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Favourite Location in Australia: Tasmania – Tassie has stolen a piece of my heart. I was lucky enough to join a guided tour of Tassie’s East Coast (and even brought my mum and dad along!) and am dying to go back and rent a campervan to spend longer exploring. The food and wine was the best I’ve tasted in my 7 years in Oz!

Favourite Location in New Zealand: The Coromandel – It’s full of tiny, rustic towns filled with friendly locals. We visited Hot Water Beach – it’s an awesome little spot where everyone digs a hole in the sand, hops in and waits for the hot springs to bubble up – basically making your own natural jacuzzi!

Laura

Meet our co-owner Laura who is a Psychology graduate from Wales. She started travelling in 2011 after an impromptu trip to New York wet her appetite for seeing the World.

Since then, Laura has visited nearly 20 countries and has lived in India, Australia and New Zealand. She now lives part time in England and still has a bucket list as long as her arm!

Favourite Location in Australia: The Whitsunday Islands – The colour of the water, the sunsets and the laid back beach vibes at local town Airlie Beach are epic! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I finally got to see Hill Inlet Lookout! You simply haven’t seen Australia without a visit to these stunning islands.

Favourite Location in New Zealand: Queenstown – I was lucky enough to live there for a year and it really does have everything! The views, activities, mountains and the ski town vibes are like nowhere else! This town literally never sleeps and the bars and restaurants are as awesome as the skiing and mountain biking culture.
