Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln, on South Australia’s Southern Eyre Peninsula, is the traditional home to the Barngarla people, the traditional owners of this land. The traditional Barngarla name for Port Lincoln is ‘Kallinyalla’ meaning ‘place of sweet water’.

Home to the country’s largest commercial fishing fleet and a diverse aquaculture industry, Port Lincoln is undoubtedly a seafood lover’s paradise, with some of the freshest and most sought-after seafood in the world.

And, to perfectly complement Port Lincoln’s renown for all sea creatures great and small, there are award-winning wines, local goodies, and an incredible diversity of coastal activities and ocean experiences that will have you wishing there were more hours in the day.

Port Lincoln is famous for its breathtaking coastal views, rugged coastlines, perfect beaches and so much more. But, perhaps the most iconic thing about Port Lincoln is its native wildlife; most notably great White Sharks and sea lions.

The Eyre Peninsula is famous for being the only place in Australia where you can witness majestic Great White Sharks from behind the safety of a cage. Not only that but there is the opportunity to swim and snorkel with the “puppies of the sea,” – lovely Sea Lions!

It’s certainly not for everyone but Port Lincoln is a top destination for those brave travellers wanting to tick off the most extreme of bucket list entries.
