Tropical North

Far North Queensland, also known simply as FNQ is a tropical paradise and feels very different to the rest of Australia. Discover our range of Tropical North tours that explore the Rainforest, Daintree River, crater lakes and waterfalls.

This area of Australia is unique in that it is the only place in the world where two World Heritage sites meet. This is the area where the Daintree Rainforest extends out to the coast, where it meets the Great Barrier Reef.

To understand the Tropical North properly, head up through the relaxing elegant town of Port Douglas to the Daintree Rainforest. The Daintree is the oldest continually surviving tropical rainforest in the world, estimated to be 180 million years old (40 million years older than the Amazon!) and covers 1,200 square kilometres!

The rainforest, waterfalls and beaches of Cape Tribulation and the Atherton Tablelands provide the opportunity to get away from it all. Relax at the stunning beaches, take a walk through the rainforest and keep your eyes peeled for some of Australia’s most unique and special wildlife.

Keep your eyes peeled for the giant Southern Cassowary, elusive Bennett’s Tree Kangaroo and the White Lipped Tree Frog, the world’s largest frog.

We have a broad selection of tours to Cape Tribulation and the Atherton Tablelands including day tours or overnight tours. To really get away from it all we recommend an overnight trip with an extra night in Port Douglas on your way back to Cairns.
